The general English programmes here are designed for people of all ages from diverse backgrounds. An average English class has students from approximately 10 different nationalities with different native languages encouraging everybody to speak in English. We are committed to offering our students the best possible English language classes. Students also have the option to student various other English courses such as: General English, Business English and IELTS preparation.
Criteria for Entry
A test is conducted for every student before enrolment into the
General ESOL course. A senior tutor himself evaluates the
appropriate level for a student based on their ability to handle
English language test. Our courses are all on-going and you can
be admitted into it any time at the level that is best suited to
you. However, international students (students from outside the
European Union) do need to show proficiency at CEFR Level B1 or
above to gain entry into the English language courses at
Eurospeak in UK.
English Levels
We run courses right from Elementary to the Proficiency Level of
English. A brief description of each level is given below.
- Elementary: Suitable for students who have only some
elementary notions of English.
- Pre-intermediate: Suitable for students who have acquired
some knowledge of Basic English.
- Intermediate: Suitable for students who understand and can
use most of the basic structures of English.
- Upper-intermediate: Suitable for students who wish to
build on their knowledge, acquire greater accuracy and fluency
and use English as a tool for daily communication.
- Advanced: Suitable for students who wish to progress to a
high level of English that will equip them for rapid and
accurate communication in English.
- Proficiency: Suitable for students who wish to attain the
highest level of English and pass the top Cambridge English
exam.
Eurospeak School offers you lessons on the above mentioned levels of English language. We have small
classes with a very diverse student body with each class having
students from 7-8 nationalities!
Assessment
University of Cambridge facilitates various set of
examinations for passing each level. Here is the list for these
examinations:
- Key English Test (KET): This exam is designed to test the
ability of students who have studied at a basic level
(elementary and perhaps some pre-intermediate) to introduce them
to the first recognized Cambridge exam. This exam can be taken
by international student visitors in the school.
- Preliminary English Test (PET): This exam is designed to
test Intermediate candidates’ ability to perform language tasks
similar to those required for successful performance in real
life situations. All international students who require a
student visa to study in UK must show that they have achieved
this level or higher if they want a general student visa.
- First Certificate (FCE): This exam consolidates the
upper-intermediate level and shows a competent level of
understanding and communication in both spoken and written
English.
- Advanced (CAE): This is a high level qualification for
candidates wishing to use their English for professional or
study purposes.
- Proficiency (CPE): This is the highest level of Cambridge
English exams. This exam treats English in a more academic
manner than the advanced level and is highly respected
throughout the world.
